Volvo Cars will equip its next-generation cars with Luminar LiDAR and perception technology. The partnership will deliver Volvo’s first fully self-driving technology for highways and paves the way for future active safety developments. Volvo Cars took a stake in Luminar in 2018 ( earlier post ).

Volvo has pulled the drapes off the Volvo EM90, its first minivan in more than 70 years of car-making. Not only that it’s battery-powered and more luxurious than its flagship XC90 SUV. That’s because both Zeekr and Volvo are owned by the same Chinese parent, Geely. 2024 Volvo EM90.

UPS has ordered 10,000 electric vehicles and FedEx plans to make its entire pickup and delivery fleet battery-powered by 2040. More chargers would make EV transportation viable in more scenarios, especially for long-haul trucking, though the emphasis in the federal infrastructure bill is on light-duty vehicles.
