Audi introduces new CNG A3 Sportback

Audi is adding a new member to its A3 family: the A3 Sportback 30 g-tron natural gas vehicle. Audi first introduced an A3 Sportback g-tron in 2014. Three CNG tanks arranged perpendicular to the direction of travel are located in the rear of the Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron. The inner layer is a gas-tight polyamide vessel.

Ford’s first mass-produced carbon fiber wheels

To source the new lightweight track-capable carbon fiber wheels that are standard on the new Shelby GT350R Mustang, Ford partnered with Australia-based Carbon Revolution. Carbon Revolution first began delivering composite wheels in 2004 for Formula SAE campaigns. Ford, however, wanted more of a mass-production solution.

Voith receives order for high-volume production of CFRP components for future Audi model

Audi AG has placed an order with Voith for the high-volume production of a CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) component for a future Audi model. Voith and Audi will jointly prepare the manufacturing ramp-up for the CFRP component. A development partnership was established with Audi also in 2011.
