DHL piloting 4 BYD electric Class 8 trucks in LA

DHL is piloting four BYD Class 8 battery-electric trucks in the Los Angeles market, just in time for the peak holiday shipping season. The new trucks enhance DHL’s alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) fleet in the US, which includes fully electric, hybrid-electric, and clean diesel—in addition to low-power electric-assist e-Cargo Cycles.

BYD wins order for another 406 electric buses in Bogotá, Colombia

BYD won an order to deliver another 406 battery-electric buses to the Colombian capital of Bogotá, coming shortly after a previous announcement on 17 December of the delivery of the 470 pure electric buses to the city. BYD will co-work with Superpolo, a Colombian bus manufacturer, on the body part of the buses for such order.

Toronto now has the largest fleet of electric buses in North America on the road with arrival of third new electric bus model

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is now operating the largest fleet of electric buses in North America. In November 2017, the TTC Board approved procurement of 30 all-electric vehicles. The TTC acquired the 60 all-electric buses from three manufacturers: BYD Canada Co. New Flyer Industries Inc. and Proterra Inc.

UC Irvine acquiring 20 electric buses from BYD to convert fleet to all-electric

The University of California, Irvine is poised to be the first college campus in the US to convert its buses to an all-electric fleet. The student-funded and -operated Anteater Express shuttle service is acquiring 20 buses from BYD for $15 million.

BYD delivering 6 electric buses to Martha’s Vineyard; 4 more to be purchased

BYD recently delivered five electric buses to the Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; a sixth is scheduled to be delivered by the end of the July. VTA had placed the order for the buses in August 2017. The six-bus order comprised four BYD K9S 35-foot models and two K7 30-foot models.

T&E: Electric bus orders in Europe more than doubled to 1,031 units in 2017; ~9% share of new registrations

The number of battery-electric buses ordered in Europe more than doubled in 2017 compared to 2016, reaching 1,031 vehicles, according to a new analysis by environmental NGO Transport & Environment. Nearly half of delivered and ordered electric buses come from three manufacturers: BYD: 600 units sold and a 20% market share.
