Volvo has received an order for 11 electric hybrid buses and 2 ABB automated electric bus fast-chargers to the city of Namur in Belgium with public transport authority and operator TEC. Start in-service is planned towards the end of 2016. This is the largest order to date for the company’s electric bus system. ABB bus chargers.

In France, which liberalized the taxi market in 2015, the number of reported PHV drivers doubled in three years (from more than 15,000 in 2016 to 30,000 in 2019). The number of Uber drivers in London almost doubled in three years (from 25,000 in 2016 to 45,000 in 2018), accounting for roughly half the total PHV licence number.

Medium-sized battery-electric cars are on average 14% cheaper to run than equivalent diesels today, if slow charging overnight near home and/or fast charging at preferential rates are available. T&E’s lifecycle CO 2 emission calculator estimates that today EVs cut CO 2 emissions by two-thirds on average across Europe compared to diesel cars.

Belgium-based VRT News has charged that Opel dealers have been modifying the software in the Zafira Tourer 1.6 diesel to change the emission behavior of the vehicles. In addition, Opel announced in December that the company is voluntarily taking the next step to meet future emissions guidelines, both on CO 2 and NO x.
