Mitsubishi is doubling down on plug-in electric vehicles; the company says two of its three concepts for the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show will be plug-in hybrids. The Mitsubishi Concept GC-PHEV is a full-size SUV that looks like a reborn Montero (which the company also sells as the Pajero, depending on where you live).

Called the Concept GC-PHEV, the large and angular design exercise had previously been seen at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show last fall, but its appearance in Chicago represented its North American debut.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid has taken longer to arrive on U.S. A plug-in hybrid Outlander crossover was first previewed as a concept at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, and was originally slated to go on sale in the U.S. shores than almost any other plug-in vehicle in recent memory.
