Honda Motor Company will introduce a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and a new plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) to the US market in 2012, said President & CEO Takanobu Ito in his mid-year address in Tokyo, Japan. The City of Torrance will also receive a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle for evaluation by the end of 2010.

BMW will add further engines to the line-up in 2012, when the BMW ActiveHybrid 3 (using a powertrain similar to that of the ActiveHybrid 5, earlier post ) will also make its premiere. liter gasoline engine will be available in two output ratings. In spring 2012, BMW will launch three further engines for the series.

Honda unveiled the all-new 2013 Fit EV at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and announced plans to begin leasing the battery electric commuter vehicle in the US in the summer of 2012. The Fit EV is equipped with a 92 kW coaxial electric motor derived from the motor used in the FCX Clarity fuel cell electric vehicle.
