According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics , electric vehicle sales, including plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV), increased from just over 17,000 in 2011 to 632,883 in 2021. In fact, BEVs accounted for 3.2% of the total light-duty vehicle market in 2021!

Mn/DOT will start recruiting volunteers for the Minnesota Road Fee Test in May and research will begin in July 2011. Minnesota’s Road Fee Test project will be another in a series of technology demonstrations that are being conducted as a part of this federal program. —Cory Johnson, project manager.

In 2011, ASTM approval for the use of renewable jet fuel derived from hydroprocessing is moving into the final stages. The report recommends build a demonstration project aimed at proving the feasibility of a commercial biorefinery by creating a consortium involving regional public universities, industry, DOD and state governments.
