Lexus has sold more than 1M hybrids

Lexus International announced it has sold more than 1 million hybrid vehicles worldwide since the RX 400h went on sale in April 2005. As of the end of March 2016, Lexus had sold approximately 1,000,600 hybrid vehicles in 11 years. Today, Lexus manufactures ten hybrid models, with more on the way.

All new vehicle sales in Oregon to be ZEVs by MY 2035

These include both battery-electric and fuel-cell-electric vehicles, as well as plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. New gasoline vehicles will still be allowed for sale through 2034. Known as Advanced Clean Cars II , the set of rules builds on regulations in place since 2005.

BMW i8 beats Mercedes S 500 PHEV, Golf GTE to win World Green Car award in New York

The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) was named the World Green Car at the World Car Awards in New York. The other two short-listed finalists in contention for the award were the Mercedes-Benz S 500 Plug-In Hybrid and the Volkswagen Golf GTE. The BMW i8 is the first plug-in hybrid vehicle manufactured by the BMW Group.

EPA trends report sees record levels of average new vehicle fuel economy and CO2 emissions for MY 2012; role of new gasoline vehicle technologies

Beginning in MY 2005, technology has been used to increase both fuel economy (which has reduced CO 2 emissions) and power, while keeping vehicle weight relatively constant. The number of non-hybrid SUVs that achieved 25 mpg increased from four in MY 2008 to 17 in MY 2013, more than a four-fold increase.
