The new 'Coasting - Engine off' micro hybrid system represents a low-cost level of electric-powered motoring on a 12-volt basis. This new Volkswagen system adds a compact lithium-ion battery to the 12-volt vehicle electrics, with the battery supplying the electric consumer units with power when coasting. Coasting - Engine off.

You can fill it up at the gas station, and you can plug it in to any 120-volt outlet. Scientist have confirmed that unlike gasoline cars, plug-ins will get cleaner as they get older -- because our power grid is getting cleaner. We can achieve that -- today -- with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). You dont have to plug it in.
