REV, a Vancouver, Canada company that converts Ford fleet vehicles into highway capable battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles ( earlier post ), has become the first Hymotion plug-in conversion kit dealer in Canada. The Hymotion L5 installation adds a 5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and charging system to the original Prius.

Owners of most vehicles can purchase, for example, a ScanGauge and plug it into the OBD-II ( On Board Diagnostics II ) data port of their cars, which would allow them to view an estimate of instantaneous MPG while driving. But having since sold the car in which I had installed it, I would need now to find another MPGuino for my Corolla.

Use the existing and growing base of hybrids, offer kits to authorized installers, and give ZEV credit to the original manufacturer in exchange for not killing the car's warranty.
