Nissan is about to drink GM’s milkshake with a breakthrough, affordable, next generation electric car that will be beat the Chevy Volt to market, cost half as much and work twice as well. You might as well call most of the cars they’re selling “future clunkers.&# Plus it looks ten times cooler. Really Ford?

If you’ve been wondering just how real the new Chevy Volt that gets 230 mpg in city driving is , well just take a look for yourself. At least GM sent this nifty printed banner explaining all about the new J1772 industry standard recharging plug. Their chargers were all over the exhibit floor charging every EV there.

Electric car supporters are rising to defend General Motors’ development of the Chevy Volt after the Obama Administration’s automotive task force proclaimed that the car was probably too expensive to be commercially successful in the near future. is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. and Chrysler.
