The American Petroleum Institute has released its January 2014 update report and maps on gasoline and diesel taxes for all 50 states in the US along with a national average; the information is updated quarterly. As part of a comprehensive reform plan to simplify the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ transportation system, Governor Deval Patrick is proposing a fuel tax increase of $0.19 The increased fuel tax is intended to be in lieu of an increase in tolls. Future increases in the state fuel tax would follow the Consumer Price Index.

Nissan will warranty the battery pack in its LEAF EV for 8 years and 100,000 miles, according to Carlos Tavares, executive vice president and a member of the Board of Directors of Nissan Motor Co., The MSRP for the LEAF starts at $32,780; the full Federal tax credit of $7,500 brings that down to $25,280. Starting to the far northwest… Alaska’s Juneau EV and Bike Roundup , co-sponsored by Electric Vehicle Association chapter Juneau EV , was the city’s ninth annual event and focused on electric outboard motors in addition to e-bikes. Juneau EV, along with Plug In America , provided 2023 electric vehicle (EV) tax information.

Following the launch of the Soul EV ( earlier post ) late last year in California, along with sales beginning in Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii earlier this year, Kia Motors America (KMA) is expanding availability of its fully charged urban runabout into four new states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Maryland.

The North American infrastructure is starting in California (2015: 11 public H 2 stations with the next 28 funded, targeting ~ 100 H 2 stations by 2020), with additional investments in Vancouver, Hawaii (4 stations) and the Northeast (1 station this year, ~ 8 by 2020). Europe and Asia-Pacific are seeing faster growth.
