The emissions further drop to ~70% if we consider 2G ethanol which is produced using farm waste. Ethanol production from farm waste such as corn cob, rice husk, wheat straw and sugarcane bagasse, is known as second generation ethanol (2G). India has already started setting up 2G plants, which use crop waste for ethanol production.

Unfortunately there are still damn few J-plugs (the new standard for plug-in cars) publicly deployed, despite the expectations created by the federal grants to the EVProject (Ecotality) and ChargePoint America (Coulomb) and ex-Mayor Newsom here in San Francisco. Juice flows. The situation is similarly bleak in Southern California.

I have been on exactly one ICE (dinasour juice* consuming Internal Combustion Engine vehicles) roadtrip prior to this. Gotta love the free and the fast juice at MG’s Fortum Chargers. The total costs were very low, granted because of free charging at Fortum. The car that I am taking on this trip is 2022 MG ZS EV.

Therefore, until we get quick-charge batteries -- based on new breakthroughs, Ill take a WAG and estimate that we will have real 5-minute quick-charge batteries in perhaps 10 years -- we are likely to get our juice mostly from our home chargers.
