The Honda Insight, launched this month, is outselling its competitors in the hybrid market. Since going on sale on 4 April, 229 Insights have been sold in the UK, ahead of its nearest rival the Toyota Prius (198 units). Honda expects to sell around 7,000 Insights in the UK this year.

To make room for these moves, Honda will conclude Insight production in June. Honda will introduce all-new models of the CR-V Hybrid this year, followed by the Accord Hybrid, which will eventually make up 50% of the sales mix of each model. —Mamadou Diallo, vice president of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor.

The Toyota Prius is the best-selling hybrid vehicle of all time and recently passed three million sales globally and a million in the U.S., So then, why hasn't it for the Honda Insight? over more than a decade. And when fuel prices rise, so has demand for the Prius and other high-mileage vehicles.
