Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) and The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) announced funding for a new joint research projects to advance clean emission technologies. One of the main groups of pollutants resulting from fuel combustion is the oxides of nitrogen, or NO x.

The AEF will hold its first meeting on 7 July 2014, at SwRI in San Antonio. Our research will focus on ways to accelerate improvements for fuels and lubricants to keep up with emerging fuel economy standards. LSPI is one of several industry concerns being addressed by SwRI in the AEF consortium.

We will do a full Road Test in the coming months, reviewing the Sequoia in detail, including real world fuel economy. Fuel economy numbers have not been announced, but the same gasoline-hybrid power plant in the Toyota Tundra pickup gets 20 mpg city/24 highway/22 combined. Power and Efficiency. Smooth Performer.

The final SuperTruck demonstrator ran a five-day, 312-mile (502-kilometer) roundtrip route on Texas Interstate 35 between San Antonio and Dallas, at a weight of 65,000 lbs (29,484 kg) GVWR at a speed of 65 mph (105 km/h), where it achieved an average result of 12.2 This reduces friction, and increases efficiency and fuel economy.
