I duly plugged it into an exterior household outlet. Since it was not a Level 2 charger, I knew it would not gain much juice overnight. I found one at local supermarket but out of the four stands only one was a high speed charger compatible with the CCS plug on the EV6.

Charging adapters taking power from the grid are a must-have item for everyone who owns an Electric vehicle or a hybrid. These chargers remove the inconvenience of having to wait at a public station by juicing up your car at home while you are asleep. Saves precious time in the morning not having to pit stop and fill your car.

I wrote back in December about my unhappy experience attempting to charge my loaner LEAF at San Francisco City Hall's electric car charging stations. Parking in these Coulomb charge stations is restricted to city-owned vehicles and Car Share companies under threat of towing. A threat taken seriously in San Francisco.

Local Electric Driving, No Range Anxiety. Volvo has been talking about going electric a lot lately. The company plans to do it with a mixture of all-electric vehicles, like the new XC40 Recharge, and plug-in hybrid versions of its SUVs and sedans. The Plug-in Hybrid Option. Moving towards more juice.

But now they are back on the fence, holding off on getting a plug-in car. Bill lives a good 60 miles from San Francisco, so he needs to get some juice to make his trip home after work. For six months Bill was allowed to plug in at the station house, and his LEAF became very “cash positive.” But I dream.

Plug-in cars are being delivered at long last. Electric Vehicle Service Equipment (EVSE) home wall units are priced at between about $1000 and $2500. Is it as complex and time-consuming a process as has been experienced by many new owners of plug-in cars? Plus installation. Need it cost this much?

So if you find yourself by Pier 27 in a J1772 compliant or 120 volt-capable electric vehicle and are a Coulomb member or have one of MC's fancy new cards, two spaces with charge stations are available for the parking fee plus an as yet undetermined fee for the electricity. Nissan LEAF buyers are excluded. Obviously not.
