A new case-based research report produced by the GSMA — Building Digital Societies in Asia: Making Transportation Smarter — indicates that the successful implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in the capital city of Thailand could reduce travel times between two to four days per commuter per year. Researchers in South Korea have used an organogel binder—cyanoethyl polymer (PVA-CN)—to enhance the performance of silicon anodes for Li-ion batteries by utilizing the electroactivity of silicon in a more efficient way. A paper on their approach is published in the Journal of Power Sources. Members of the research team had earlier explored the use of PVA-CN as a high-ionic-conductivity (σ i ) electrolyte (Kimm et al. 2013).
