Electrify America LLC announced it will install more than 2,800 workplace and residential charging stations by June 2019 in 17 of the biggest metropolitan areas in the United States. The companies have committed to install 35% of all multi-family and workplace sites in California in designated low-income or disadvantaged community areas.

The rebates will be available through the Sacramento County Incentive Project to install both commercial-grade Level 2 chargers and high-powered DC fast chargers. California’s goal is to get 5 million EVs on its roads by 2030 to reduce carbon emissions and to support those vehicles by installing 250,000 chargers statewide.

The California Energy Commission (CEC) has selected 8 awardees for a total of $8,875,457 in funding to install Direct Current (DC) fast charging stations on Interstate 5 (I-5), State Route 99 (SR 99), and along United States Highway 101 (US-101) from San Jose traveling South in California. SR 99: Fresno to north of Wheeler Ridge.

Partial Consent Decree, CARB moved forward the company’s plans for DC fast-charging in more metro areas, adding charging for regional routes, and strengthening highway networks. In Cycle 2, Electrify America also will continue to invest in the six Cycle 1 metros: Fresno. The cost of installation will be incorporated into a monthly fee.
