Vehicle fleets across the United States are transitioning from internal combustion engine (ICE) to electric vehicles, and that includes school bus fleets. Individual states and electric utilities also have their own funding programs for transitioning school bus fleets.

Tesla was supposed to expand production of the truck at a Gigafactory Nevada expansion announced last year, but the automaker only recently broke ground on the construction project. Tesla Semi can travel up to 500 miles with a full load, which the company claims is competitive with diesel semi trucks with a much lower cost of operation.

A study conducted by a team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) compared the lifetime costs of owning a gas-powered vehicle versus that of owning an eco-friendly vehicle. Hybrids and EVs can cost you less.

Electrify America’s charging network were the backbone of our trip Cost Comparison We charged 412.23 kWh over the 1,796-mile trip at an estimated retail cost of $203. The fuel costs we saw posted during our trip averaged $4 per gallon for 87 octane, which would be $276 gasoline costs, so advantage electric, but not by much.

Around 30% more compact than previous stacks, it can be fully housed in the engine compartment for the first time. Too, the cost of the technology has been slashed due largely to a 90% reduction in the amount of platinum used in the stack. The GLC F-CELL features a ~9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack combined with a new fuel cell stack.

This is saying something, as she has ridden in or driven many of the 800+ cars I have reviewed for Clean Fleet Report over the past 10 years.
