One of the other 914 kit converters questioned why the accessory battery couldn't stay in the original tray, but I decided to remove it anyway and have the accessory battery up in the front trunk near the DC/DC converter. When the driver presses the horn button, it actually connects the ground terminal to the horn.

I double checked the connections on the neutral-start relay in the engine compartment and everything looked fine. I wasn't seeing a huge voltage drop, so I didn't believe the controller, at least from a DC-current point of view. This pointed to the "Forward" signal on pin 29 of the DMOC controller not getting properly grounded.

Put another way, the fuel cell technology is being developed so as to work as components in the MQB (transverse) kit, the development of which is led by the Volkswagen brand, and the MLB (longitudinal) kit being driven by Audi. Because the exhaust system only has to handle water vapor, it is made of weight-saving plastic.

With lower exhaust heat, heat efficiency was enhanced, and consequently, fuel efficiency was enhanced as well. The sun gear is connected to MG1 (acting as the generator); the planet carrier is connected directly to the engine, and the ring gear is connected to the counter gear. VDC up to 650 volts DC.
