The small expense of $150 will extend your range and power greatly. The transmission on the original 914 was bad and rattled the car violently. Most people seem to want want greater range, but are not willing to give up starting torque for it, especially for a Porsche. I purchased the kit as a no-gasoline commuter car solution.

This car has half the power, substantially more battery capacity, and similar range to the EV1. The BIG advantage of this car (besides the fact that nobody can take it away from us!) This is the car that we take on family trips, and it is also the daily commute car now that the EV1 has been returned to GM.

Hopefully the funding was from the same place as well… 2 Bill C said on March 13th, 2009 at 1:21 pm I think a few billion should be taken out of the Detroit bailout and give some capital to all of the electric car companies. The tango (commuter cars) says they only need 50 million to become profitable.
