The plant was originally fueled by coal but was converted to natural gas in 2010. After the sugarcane has been crushed, the cane juice is filtered, treated with calcium hydroxide, decanted, and then sent to sugar production. Sabine’s process also yields a high-BTU, renewable co-product known as pitch.

Renewables That Even Coal-Based Utilities Can Love. Individuals and businesses lose months and connect fees when they add solar and other forms of renewable energy to the grid. Experts predict that by the year 2060 global warming, if left unchecked, could result in a temperature rise of seven degrees Fahrenheit higher than temperatures before the Industrial Revolution when man started widespread use of coal and other fossil fuels. The fact is, about half the world’s electricity comes from coal.

In one of those alternative realities Al Gore got elected President in 2000 and because he understood what was happening with CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions he made cutting emissions, and developing renewable and clean energy sources our country’s focus and goals. But nothing we did could gain the parks any more love or funding.

If our country is going to spend money like a drunk sailor we should have spent it on building renewable energy power plants like Wind and Geothermal. Denmark did that with Wind Power and now most of their energy comes from wind rather than oil, natural gas, or coal.
