Alstom held a world premiere event on Sunday celebrating its Coradia iLint hydrogen fuel cell train ( earlier post ) rolling into service in Lower Saxony, Germany. The new trains will be fueled at a mobile hydrogen filling station. The Coradia iLint heralds a new era in emission-free rail transport.

Alstom will build 14 Coradia iLint fuel-cell trains ( earlier post ) for the Local Transport Authority of Lower Saxony (Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen, LNVG). The hydrogen for the trains will be provided by the Linde Group. From now on there will be a real alternative to diesel trains in non-electrified rail transport.
