Operating since 2015 in the South Coast and San Joaquin Valley air districts, CC4A has since expanded to the Bay Area and Sacramento Metropolitan air districts. The newest Clean Cars 4 All program, administered by the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, is just getting underway and already has had 22 participants.

It’s no secret that motor vehicle emissions are one of the main sources of pollution in the state of California and one of the leading causes of climate change in the country. The only way to avoid more expensive and disruptive climate changes is to significantly reduce these emissions.

More than 60 scientists from a dozen institutions have begun a study in the Sacramento, California area to investigate how aerosols affect the climate. Sending airplanes and weather balloons outfitted with instruments up in the air, the team will be sampling aerosols in the Sacramento Valley 2-28 June.

At its meeting in Sacramento yesterday, the California Air Resources Board (ARB) endorsed the state’s cap-and-trade regulation. Companies that need additional allowances to cover their emissions can purchase them at regular quarterly auctions ARB will conduct, or buy them on the market.
