A far cry from the affordable battery electric vehicles led by the Atto 3 with which BYD has established in Australia, the plug-in hybrid Yangwang’s Chinese price converts to about $240,000 here. The maximum DC fast charge rate is 110kW. That’s because Yangwang is a new subsidiary brand of BYD devoted to luxury vehicles.

The Long Range also charges at up to 250kW (we saw 251kW, as per the pic below). Tesla Model 3 Long Range charging at 251kW/1587km/h. But… as with all NMC batteries they prefer not to be charged up to 100 percent regularly; so only do that for road trips. makes plenty of sense, especially for those who prefer all-wheel drive.

My desire was to learn how to live with an EV away from one’s familiar territory and also to find out what one has to do to overcome charging station issues and learn how to live with it. Fortunately it’s becoming less of an issue now the newest EVs have a range of up to 300 miles on a full battery charge.

Charging is through Level 1, 2 or 3 (DC Fast Charging) plus regenerative braking. The DC charging should translate into an 80-percent charge in about an hour.
