Ferroalloys are alloys of iron with some element other than carbon; the ferroalloy “carries” that element into molten metal—e.g., Ferroalloys are usually produced by the reduction of a metallic ore (usually an oxide) by carbon. during steel manufacturing. In all cases, however, the production of ferroalloys is energy-intensive.
