GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, at a conference of the Society of Automotive Analysts on the eve of the North American International Auto Show, announced that GM will produce the Cadillac Converj extended-range electric vehicle. Cadillac included the Converj concept car at the 2009 North American International Auto Show.

The company also held the European premiere of the Cadillac SRX. The Ampera is an extended range electric vehicle based on the Voltec technology used in the Chevrolet Volt. An on-board gasoline/E85-fueled engine-generator extends the Ampera’s range to more than 500 km (311 miles). Recharging uses a standard 230V outlet.
