Cummins will partner with Peterbilt Motors Company, a division of PACCAR to develop and demonstrate technologies under the US Department of Energy (DOE) SuperTruck II program. Cummins and Peterbilt teamed together for SuperTruck I, first demonstrating more than 50% BTE and analytically defining technologies needed to achieve 55% BTE.

a portfolio company of Lone Star Investment Advisors, is building a fleet of 60 Peterbilt Model 388 LNG (liquefied natural gas) trucks. The Peterbilt Model 388 tractors are equipped with a Westport HD 15-liter natural gas engine and fuel system. We believe that Peterbilt is a leader in alternate fuel technology.

Schneider Electric reinforced its partnership with PACCAR, which is receiving a $33-million matching grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE) to continue the development of its Class 8 Kenworth and Peterbilt battery electric and fuel cell vehicles, along with its vehicle charging stations, for the SuperTruck 3 project. Kenworth Truck Company and Peterbilt Motor Company will expanding their alternative fuel line-up by offering the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy duty natural gas engine ( earlier post ) for use in regional haul, vocational and refuse markets. Peterbilt uses the ISL G and Westport GX engine. Next-generation Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks.

Achates Power has released initial in-use NO x measurements from the cleaner, heavy-duty diesel engine it developed in a project funded by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and several partners. Achates Power previously announced the opposed-piston has entered fleet service with WALMART Corporation in a Peterbilt 579 tractor.

And now it’s showing a full-on Class 8 semi truck concept, the heaviest vehicle on the road, powered by hydrogen. Honda doesn’t build actual trucks, it’s just looking to supply the fuel cell systems to be used on a truck made by a large truck manufacturer. We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s going to take a lot of work.

Bali Express purchased 11 Peterbilt 579EV Class 8 trucks in September; by Bali Express. The SDG&E-powered chargers were partially funded through a $200,000 grant from the California Energy Commission’s Clean Transportation Program. The Peterbilt 579EV trucks have an 82,000 lb.
