BMW i3 – from $28,000 2020 BMW i3s EV. We found only four for sale, with $28,880 for a 190km range 2014 60Ah version with 100,000km the cheapest. 2021 Lexus UX300e – from $56,000 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge – from $62,000 2018 Jaguar I-Pace – from $65,100 (only 18,000km!)

Natural plug-in rivals include the Range Rover Velar PHEV (from $132,800), BMW X5 50e ($149,990), Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe ($161,600) and Volvo XC90 Recharge Ultimate PHEV ($125,990). Priced from $62,490 it was $24,000 more than an equivalent combustion A3, but at least undercut BMW’s i3 REx rival.

As a comparison , in 2011, there were only two battery electric and 29 hybrid electric vehicle models offered for sale in the US. Yet for now some manufacturers, like BMW , Jaguar Land Rover , and Stellantis have held out against introducing an EV-specific drivetrain architecture, although each has plans to do so in a few years.
