Construction has started on the first public hydrogen station in Belgium, to be operated by Air Liquide. As part of the SWARM project, the station has received funding from the European Fuel Cells and Hydrogen-Joint Undertaking, a private/public partnership in support of the development of hydrogen related applications.

Following the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany and Belgium, Norway is the 5 th European country to start selling the fuel cell sedan. Uno-X Hydrogen, a newly established joint-venture that plans to establish a 20-station hydrogen network by 2020 in Norway, is the first customer in that country to take ownership of the Toyota Mirai.

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) Fuel Cell Business will supply and integrate fuel cell modules into a zero-emission train prototype as part of the FCH2RAIL project in Europe. The project is funded with €10 million by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen 2 Joint Undertaking (FCH 2 JU). The Spanish state railway operator Renfe is providing the train.

Driven by Artur Prusak and Thierry Benchetrit, the hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai from Toyota France took first place in the first e-Rally Monte-Carlo , which was held between Fontainebleau and Monaco. Thirty-five crews of nine different nationalities were registered, primarily with battery electric vehicles.

Toyota will launch the Mirai fuel cell vehicle in Sweden and Norway this summer, following other European countries that have introduced the Toyota Mirai in 2015 (UK, Germany and Denmark) or early 2016 (Belgium). In Sweden, hydrogen is locally produced 100% based on renewable energy, just as in Denmark.

The first five production Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicles ( earlier post ) for Europe were unloaded in Bristol, UK and Zeebrugge, Belgium, respectively on 8 and 10 August. Already sold in Japan since last December, the Toyota Mirai will be launched in Europe from September in the UK, Denmark and Germany.
