Electric cars are becoming an attractive business proposition for high-mileage vehicle operators such as ride-sharer Uber in key EU capitals such as Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Lisbon, a new study by research and campaign group Transport & Environment (T&E) has found. The savings can be higher (24%) in the case of Parisian drivers.

A few days ago, Tesla started its Model Y invasion in Europe with its first deliveries in several EU territories, including Germany, Belgium, and Norway. Tesla’s dominance in Norway is significant because the country is one of the first to report electric car registrations beating ICE car registrations.

As the trend toward cleaner technologies with reduced exhaust emissions continues through the use of catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters (DPF), and improved fuels and engines, non-exhaust PM will soon surpass exhaust emissions and may well become dominant by 2020 both in terms of emissions and contributions to air quality.

Diesel vehicles may be totally banned as they wont meet the regulations of BS6 round 2. Only electric vehicles offers zero local emissions. These kinds of bans have attracted criticism from auto 'journalists' and legacy vehicle manufacturers who rely on ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) sales which are already faltering tremendously.

In Europe, a new report from the European Environment Agency (EEA) found that the average car sold in the EU in 2012 was 9% more fuel-efficient than the average three years before, due to improved technology and an increase in the share of diesel cars. Diesel vehicles represent 55% of the newly registered vehicle fleet.
