Volvo Cars and Northvolt have selected Gothenburg, Sweden to establish a new battery manufacturing plant which will commence operations in 2025, and complement the planned R&D center that both companies announced in December as part of an investment of approximately SEK 30 billion (US$3.3 Earlier post.).

Battery swap stations are Nio’s signature replenishment facility, and it is currently the only company offering such models to the general consumer. There are also other companies in China that offer models with battery swap support, but for the taxi market. Swapping to become more efficient by using smaller batteries.

NIO’s first battery swap station in Norway. The NIO House Oslo, Norway, battery swap station opened in October 2021. After entering the Norwegian market, NIO will expand into Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark in the second half of this year with its products and comprehensive services.
