A new study by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) finds that the affordability of electric cars remains a strong deterrent for customers across the EU, along with lack of infrastructure and lack of investment in infrastructure. A natural shift in the market will not happen without addressing these barriers.

Porsche developers are also already studying how the Taycan’s batteries can be reused in the future. Together with the BMW Group, Daimler AG, the Ford Motor Company, and the Volkswagen Group with Audi, Porsche is laying the groundwork for the establishment of a powerful fast-charging network for electric vehicles in Europe.

Looking at it another way, a recent PWC study forecasted that the U.S. will need as many as 235,000 fast EV chargers to meet demand — up from about 47,000 chargers that are available today. Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Porsche and BMW have similar initiatives.

Were told that the agreement includes nods of acceptance from the likes of Volkswagen, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Fiat, Toyota, Mitsubishi, Eon, Vattenfall, EDF, Npower, Endesa and Enel, and while theres no time frame for when itll be introduced, were pretty stoked to hear that at least something has been decided upon. Is this the Zune HD?
