Audi and its Chinese partner companies FAW and SAIC are showing four world premieres: the brand-new Audi A6 e-tron concept vehicle and the all-round updated Audi Q5L, in addition to the Audi A7L and an SUV study, still kept beneath a cover, named Audi concept Shanghai. The first two products are made by a new partner, SAIC Audi.

This is in part due to the collapse of the Italian and French markets, on which small cars are heavily reliant for sales—in 2019, 38% of A and B segment registrations in Europe occurred in Italy and France. Registrations of SUVs fell by 48% to 338,300 units while increasing their market share to almost 40%.

Tesla helped former shareholder Toyota to bring back the Toyota RAV4 EV , an electric SUV and also aided its other OEM shareholder, Daimler (which also has since divested its Tesla shares), with the Smart ED and B-Class Electric. The Swedes (with some Chinese help) are bringing more EVs. X marks the spot of Tesla’s expansion.
