The company’s four electric trucks have been making short-haul deliveries from a distribution center to more than 200 Loblaw stores, traveling approximately 370 km (about 230 miles) per charge while hauling up to 32,000 kg (70,500 lbs.). At night, they charge at one of five 180 kW ABB chargers located roughly 10 km outside of Coquitlam.

If it is cold outside or the battery charge is low, then the engine kicks-in as it does under heavy acceleration.

The eTorque system’s hybrid functions include auto stop/start, electric power assist, extended fuel shut-off, transmission shift management, intelligent battery charging and regenerative braking.

If you consider buying one, make sure you plan on spending time off-pavement seeking sand, mud and snow, as its DNA is far different from any other SUV on the market. With no battery charge the gasoline engine kicks-in resulting in the lower fuel economy number. For maximum efficiency, charge the battery whenever possible.

The “wet” part of a DCT means it uses oil to improve lubrication and cooling. A “dry” DCT does not use oil, but is the more fuel efficient of the two types. That is joined by exterior colors of Hampton Gray, Phantom Black, Sage Gray, Ice White and Mojave Sand. A torquey turbo four. The tail end is where things get interesting.
