Joining BMW, Ford and FCA in suspension of production in the US due to COVID-19 ( earlier post ) are: Toyota is temporarily suspending production at all of its automobile and components plants in North America, including Canada, Mexico and the US, through 3 April. Tesla will suspend production at its Fremont plant on 23 March.

General Motors (GM) has shut down a manufacturing plant in Kansas and laid off the site’s roughly 2,000 workers after the automaker stated plans to do so last week. The news comes as the latest amidst strikes from the United Auto Workers (UAW) union targeting Ford, GM and Stellantis. What are your thoughts?

Unfortunately for its US marketers, the Pony was never sold in the United States (though it did appear briefly in Canada). Within the auto industry, it’s said that Toyota is not afraid of competition from most other makers. The same platform also underpins an EV from Hyundai’s sister brand, Kia. A carmaker to watch.
