Developing technology to address the causes of climate change, mitigate its impact, and adapt to the crisis is one of IEEE’s top priorities. To assist with that effort, the IEEE Young Professionals group this year launched its Climate and Sustainability Task Force. On 12 September, CSTF and IRENA presented a Youth Day event.

As 2023 IEEE president, it is my goal to work with all members—particularly our students, young professionals, and affinity committee members—to make IEEE a more successful and resilient global technical organization and for there to be global recognition of IEEE as a force for change. Countries meet their needs for goods and services through domestic production and international trade. However, the researchers found that the greatest resource risk is due to international trade, mainly from remote countries. A drought, flood or any severe weather event in another country puts these food imports at risk.
