The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. Hertz believes it has one of the most fuel-efficient rental fleets in the industry.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) rolled out its new fleet of 77 buses fueled by propane autogas. With the switch to propane, 35% of the Copley Park fleet is now operating on alternative fuel. ROUSH CleanTech has deployed almost 14,000 propane autogas vehicles to fleets across America.

Today, London takes delivery of five electric double-decker buses, Car2Go pulls electric cars from San Diego, and more new green cars debuting at the 2016 New York Auto Show. Car2Go will replace its San Diego fleet of electric Smart Fortwo city cars with gasoline models, owing to lack of charging.

The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System Board of Directors recently voted to approve two major bus procurements: up to 350 Gillig 40-foot low-floor CNG buses and up to 165 New Flyer 60-foot low-floor articulated CNG buses through 2017. At the end of the contracts, more than 95% of MTS buses will run on cleaner compressed natural gas.
