In France, which liberalized the taxi market in 2015, the number of reported PHV drivers doubled in three years (from more than 15,000 in 2016 to 30,000 in 2019). The number of Uber drivers in London almost doubled in three years (from 25,000 in 2016 to 45,000 in 2018), accounting for roughly half the total PHV licence number.

The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. Additionally, the company currently has 15 solar locations, with projected growth to 20 by 2016.

Heavy-duty electric truck builder Orange EV announced that fleets in California can purchase a new T-Series pure electric terminal truck for less than the cost of a new Tier 4 diesel truck. Similar point-of-sale discount programs exist in other major metropolitan service areas around the country including Chicago and the state of New York.

Propane autogas, a domestically produced fuel, costs the company an average of $1 per gallon, versus their $2 per gallon cost of diesel. Deployments in 2016 will include New York City, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia and Baltimore. Milwaukee and Fort Lauderdale.
