General Motors India and Reva Electric Car Company (REVA) have entered into a collaboration agreement to develop electric vehicles for the Indian market. The agreement was announced jointly by Karl Slym, president and managing director, General Motors India and Chetan Maini, deputy chairman and chief technology officer, REVA.

The building coincides with the announcement in September that General Motors will team up with the company to develop a plug-in version of the best-selling GM Spark mini-car as the US giant looks to embrace electric powered driving. General Motors plans to unveil the Chevy Volt, a plug-in hybrid, sometime in 2010, and Toyota may begin selling a plug-in Prius in late 2010 or early 2011. Since opening inside of the Green Motors dealership in March of last year, the company has converted a dozen Priuses. The conversion is simple.
