If all goes as planned, VW is hoping to introduce the technology on vehicles by 2010, that magical year when plug-in electric vehicles being promised by multiple automakers are supposed to hit the world's roads. No word yet on how many of these four cars will actually hit the market in 2010.

While Chrysler has still not officially announced any of these details, the carmakers viability plan listed an "EV Roadster" as a future product for 2010. A Fiat-based battery powered small car is slated for production shortly after the Circuit, according to Chryslers viability plan.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Committed to sales of 10,000 or more vehicles in late 2010, with increasing production in 2011. todays answer is "Yes -- but not yet."
