Anticipating strong future demand, Toshiba Corporation will construct a second dedicated production facility for its safe, long-life, rapid charge SCiB battery ( earlier post ), in the Kashiwazaki Frontier Park, in Kashiwazaki city, Niigata prefecture. A new company formed under the stewardship of Miles Rubin, known as Coda Automotive, will introduce an affordable, full-performance all-electric sedan built by Hafei in China to the California market in 2010. The hope for Coda Automotive is to sell 2,700 units in 2010 with production capacity reaching 20,000 units in 2011.
