The future is green for General Motors and it has further established its commitment to forward-thinking technology with the opening of what has been dubbed the largest and most technologically advanced battery lab in the USA. Planning for the lab began in December 2007 with construction beginning in August 2008.

H ere's the Mazda story thanks to Autocar: Mazda plans Volt rival Autocar August 28, 2008 Autocar has learned that Mazda engineers are hard at work trying to develop a rival to the Chevrolet Volt – a car which uses a petrol engine to charge a battery pack which powers the wheels via an electric motor.

What would happen when the cash for clunkers sales boom came to an end has been a question many automotive executives in the USA dared not think about. per cent compared to the previous year at 19,977 units (though they do not include sales of the Mercedes S400 Hybrid which went on sale in the USA at the end of August).

After months of doom and gloom for the auto industry in the USA, there is finally a ray of hope courtesy of hybrid cars. This meant that a total of 26,205 hybrid units were sold - some three per cent of all new vehicles, the highest monthly new vehicle share since April 2008. per cent in volume to 859,847 units.

Combined sales of all hybrid models, which included the new Fusion and Milan hybrids, totalled 2,299 - up 21 per cent compared to sales a year ago. General Motors - GM dealers in the US delivered 173,007 vehicles, down 34 per cent compared to the prior year. per cent compared to April 2008. per cent year on year.
