BG Group has approved implementation of the first phase of a US$15-billion project to convert coal seam gas (CSG) to LNG—the first major commercial project to do so. In early 2008, we announced our first investment in Australia. The gas is trapped in coal seams (typically 300-600 meters underground) by water pressure.

The engine’s dual-circuit cooling system and integrated water-cooled exhaust manifold enable short engine warm-up times. The use of precious metals in the catalytic converter and their composition were also reconfigured, as when natural gas is combusted, about 25% less CO 2 is generally emitted with far less carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons.

The motor controller contains the power inverter to drive the motor, two 8kW AC inverters for the power steering and air compressor drives, and a 24V DC-DC converter to charge the standard vehicle batteries.
