During the Global Financial Crisis in 2008/9, the COVID19 pandemic, and now the Ukrainian War, economic stimulus packages were meant to put the world on a cleaner and greener path, but this is not at all evident in the CO 2 emissions data.

Australia-based Linc Energy Limited has signed a purchase agreement to acquire a 100% interest in 92,059 acres of coal tenement lease areas in the Powder River Basin in Wyoming USA from GasTech Inc, a company based in Casper Wyoming. Linc Energy has agreed to pay US$5 million for the purchase of the GasTech coal tenements.

With oil prices surging in the summer of 2008, the annual increase in global emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) from oil, coal, gas and cement production appear to have halved according to preliminary estimates by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. per cent in 2008, compared to 3.3 per cent in 2007.
