Established in 2002 as a pilot program of the Center for Neighborhood Technology, IGO was the first car-sharing program in Chicago and has been dedicated to creating an integrated multimodal transportation system for more than a decade. IGO offers a range of vehicles, including the Nissan LEAF and Mitsubishi i-MiEV battery-electric vehicles.

U Chicago, MIT study suggests ongoing use of fossil fuels absent new carbon taxes

A paper by a team from the University of Chicago and MIT suggests that technology-driven cost reductions in fossil fuels will lead to the continued use of fossil fuels—oil, gas, and coal—unless governments pass new taxes on carbon emissions. Currently battery costs for an electric vehicle are about $325 per kWh.
