Annual sales of TMC hybrids in Japan and globally. YTD figure is through 31 July 2010. Cumulative sales in Japan of its Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) hybrid vehicles have topped the 1-million mark, while more than 2.68 million units have been sold globally as of 31 July 2010, according to the company.

confirmed plans to begin sales in Japan of the CR-Z sporty hybrid model in February 2010 and Fit Hybrid before the end of 2010. The CR-Z concept car made its world debut at the 40 th Tokyo Motor Show in 2007. The Fit was Japan’s top-selling model from January-June this year, with 65,589 units sold.

Annual worldwide sales of the Prius to September 2010. Worldwide Prius sales have been buoyed since 2009 by the introduction in Japan of a government subsidy for green cars that propelled Prius to be the top-selling car in Japan for 17 months in a row. In 2009, that share jumped to 52%, and for Jan-Sep 2010, the figure is 63%.

Annual global sales of TMC hybrids. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has cumulatively sold more than 2 million hybrid vehicles since the launch in 1997 in Japan of the Coaster Hybrid EV in August and the Prius in December. On May 31, 2007, the global cumulative sales of TMC’s hybrid vehicles had topped 1 million.
