The 2017 Compliance Report for the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) shows 100% compliance with the regulation. It was originally developed to support a return to 1990 levels of climate-changing gases by 2020, as required by AB 32, the 2006 landmark climate bill. Electricity displaced about 75 million gallons of petroleum.

Exposure to air pollution on city streets is enough to counter the beneficial health effects of exercise in adults over 60, according to new research led by Imperial College London and Duke University. Our research suggests that we might advise older adults to walk in green spaces, away from built-up areas and pollution from traffic.

Vehicles must meet strict emission standards to drive in the ULEZ area: Euro 4 for gasoline cars and vans (widely available since 2006). The ULEZ has already helped to reduce roadside pollution levels by 44% in central London and 20% in inner London. The ULEZ is a very targeted scheme to get the most polluting vehicles off the road.

The governing boards of the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach unanimously approved the 2017 Clean Air Action Plan (CAAP) Update , ushering in a new era of aggressive clean air strategies for moving cargo through the nation’s busiest container port complex. The combined port complex is on pace in 2017 for the busiest year ever.

Canada has aligned new vehicle and fuel standards with the United States to cut air pollution from on-road vehicles. Canada’s Tier 3 regulations will introduce more stringent air pollutant emission standards for new passenger cars, light-duty trucks and certain heavy-duty vehicles (such as delivery vans) starting with the 2017 model year.
