Ford announced that it will reveal the new battery-electric F-150 Lightning pickup—a revival of the name of the old Ford SVT Lightning performance truck—in 19 May in a livestreamed event at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn. Now comes the F-150 Lightning. The reveal takes place at 9:30 p.m.

In a statement about Ford’s next EV, the F-150 Lightning, Farley gave a nod to several key vehicles that paved the way for the all-electric truck. Now comes the F-150 Lightning. As per Ford, the Lightning will have a dual motor setup that would produce more torque and more horsepower than any existing F-150.

Ford has begun production of the 2015 F-150 ( earlier post ) at Kansas City Assembly Plant, which joins Dearborn Truck Plant in building the first mass-produced light-duty pickup truck with a high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body. Retail sales increased 7% in February. Retail sales increased 7% in February.

Notably, the same statement went on to say Ram 1500 Classic production will continue for the United States and Mexico. After all, Ford did something similar with the F-150 way back in 2004 when that model was extensively redesigned.

Ford Motor Company began production of its EcoBoost engines ( earlier post ) at Cleveland Engine Plant No. The EcoBoost begins production. A V-6 EcoBoost engine will be available for the F-150 in 2010. Ford invested $55 million to retool and reopen the plant, which had been idled in 2007. Click to enlarge.
