People might be bored reading about the Prius but a review on four Priuses (2004, 2005, two 2006s) that my family owns that ran a total of 913k km (570k miles) should be interesting, right? I found a a 2004 with 247k km (154k miles) on the clock. Huge leg space in front and back, just like in a Ford Mondeo or VW Passat.

The Transit Bus Repower is a full-featured powertrain conversion of an existing diesel transit bus to a battery-electric bus. Lightning’s first Transit Bus Repower powertrain was deployed in a 2004 30-foot GILLIG bus and has been on the road with a transit operator in Colorado for the past 9 months.

ALTe Powertrain Technologies (ALTe) has successfully installed its range-extended electirc powertrain system in a second line of vehicles: the Ford Econoline E350 platform. ALTe has already successfully implemented conversions in Ford F150 trucks, which have been driven by dozens of potential fleet customers.

Founded in 2004, Achates Power is designing and developing engines based on a two-stroke, opposed-piston, compression-ignition technology. Conversions are mostly for the Prius, with a few for the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner hybrid SUVs. At that point, we expect the aftermarket companies prices to have come down sufficiently so that their conversions will be attractive to owners of hundreds of thousands of hybrids already on the road. So far, most start as hybrids.
